Personnages autour d'un bassin
Almost every Sunday, I go to a small ceramics studio with friends. Lately, I've been more concerned with nonfunctional objects inspired by ancient pottery. This one is an abbreviated version of an object in the Louvre. It's not a complete success, but I consider it part of a learning curve.
I'm very fond of the shape and feel of my teapot. Unfortunately, and despite the greatest care, the lid somehow fused with the pot during the glaze firing. Like I said, it's a learning curve. Besides, after I had made it, I learned that the clay body probably isn't food safe. Now it's a sculpture.

Cool ceramics, as always! Glad you
have the studio available.
Oh, Rebecca! How wonderful! I too am very fond of the fish, but the "Personnages autour d'un bassin" reminded me of the 1986 Avignon Theater Festival winner that I saw performed in 1987 around the huge basin of the old public wash house in Edinburgh at the Fringe Festival.. Very evocative of all sorts of stuff.
The eggs call out to be touched.
I like the fish too.
Tell me, are the two spouts on the eggs so it doesn't "glug-glug" all over the place when you pour? We saw some really old pitchers at a museum with extra holes in the handles, and I tried to say it was to prevent "glug-glug", and that was the only way I could express it. They all laughed!
Me want FISH! :-)
Was thinking of you yesterday as I was making the trek and then in the Moravian Tile Works. If you are back in the states and up for a trip to Michigan there are two fine tile works - Pewabic in Detroit and Motawi in Ann Arbor.
I LOVE these! Especially the egg bank. Kind of cute and planty and Jean Arpish.
:-)
I call dibs on the dysfunctional teapot. It made me laugh!!
Loved the stories and the photos--so glad that at least one of us is there. :-)
