Herons, tourists and artichokes arrive with spring. Istanbul also celebrates the season with their native tulips. These are from Emirgan Park. Some are so bright, they make your eyes hurt to look at them.

beautiful tulips, i love them: it is funny because i just learned few days ago that the famous tulips from Holland were in fact imported from Turkey long time ago and are not native from Holland at all. didn't know that.

Hi, Rebecca. I just love your stories about Shuppi and Cenk! And the latest one about the deaf man acting as your tourguide was hysterical. You have the best adventures! And apparently, your Turkish is getting quite good. The photoos are fabulous. Spring has sprung here, and it's lovely. The flowering cherry trees are just starting to lose their tiny pink petals, making it look as though it's snowing pink! I just love that. I'll have to send you updates on my cats - we can compare pet stories. If I could figure out how to use my digital camera, I'd send you a picture. The instruction booklet calls to me. Hmmm! Bye for now. Miss you. Sue.
